Subsequently, Ms. Kanaele began her career as an assistant pastry chef at the Four Seasons Resort Wailea from 1992 to 2001, before advancing to the post of a bakery manager at Simply Sweets Bakery between 2003 and 2007.
Ms. Kanaele continued her career in the culinary field as a culinary instructor at Maui Job Corps Satellite Center from 2007 until 2012 and, subsequently, as a kitchen manager at Aloha House from 2012 to 2015. In 2015, she garnered expertise as a pastry cook at Roy’s Hawaii Kai, while concurrently serving as a pastry assistant at Halekulani Hotel Waikiki between 2015 and 2017. Following this period, she contributed to the Four Seasons Resort Ko’Olina as a pastry cook in 2017, and was active in her role as a pastry chef at Celebrations By Bev Gannon from 2017 to 2020. Since 2020, she has found much success as the owner and pastry chef at Happie Happie Joie Joie Creations LLC. In this capacity, Ms. Kanaele specializes in wholesale desserts, pastries and cakes, and is responsible for catering and customizing pastries, scheduling, daily operations and management of two people.
Well regarded for her contributions to the field, Ms. Kanaele has earned the People’s Choice Award for the Just Dessert competition, which was formed by the Maui Humane Society in 1998. Long dedicated to civic advocacy, she has contributed to the Christian Athletic Group and the local Mormon Church, and has been dedicated to providing work for autistic individuals in the community.
Among her professional accomplishments, Ms. Kanaele is most proud to have established and sustained a successful business during the pandemic. Proudly serving by her motto, “creating happiness in every bite,” she attributes much of her success to Mark Hetzel, who served as her teacher and mentor from the onset of her professional journey. Looking toward the future, Ms. Kanaele aspires to attain her college degree, and hopes to continue employing and training autistic individuals to ensure their chance for employment in the community.
